ECSC-SUN WORK
Ethiopia has made major strides towards addressing the food and nutrition challenges of the country. Between 2008 and 2020, the government of Ethiopia developed and implemented National Nutrition Strategy, National Nutrition Program I and II. The government has also successfully established nutrition coordination platforms, Nutrition Coordinating Body (NNCB) and the Nutrition Technical Committee (NNTC) in 2009 at federal, regional, and lower levels, and joined the Global Scaling-Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement in 2012.
ECSC-SUN has been closely working with the Government of Ethiopia, other SUN networks, and nutrition development partners since 2013 in the implementation of nutrition programming in the country. ECSC-SUN has initiated the development, finalization and endorsement of Food and Nutrition Policy in Ethiopia and the National Food and Nutrition Strategy (FNS). It has also supported the development of Food and Nutrition Council and Agency establishment proclamation.
The coalition led and supported the development of multi-sectoral accountability tool and scorecards to assess and review the National Nutrition Programme (NNP) implementation at all levels, and to strengthen accountability and financial commitments of key nutrition stakeholders. It has also supported the development of several sectoral food and nutrition related policies, strategies, programmes, initiatives, and guidelines.
ECSC-SUN STRATEGY
- Establish and Strengthen food system and nutrition governance and leadership
- Leverage Food System and Nutrition to be a priority in a national and regional agendas.
- Strengthen the capacity of national ECSC-SUN coalition members for effective implementation of the ECSC-SUN's roadmap.
- Strengthen an enabling environment and shared space where coalition members align their programs with national food system and nutrition initiatives and take joint responsibility.
- Align actions around high quality, well-costed country, regional and woreda based plans, with an agreed results framework and mutual accountability.
- Increase resource mobilization, sustainable financing and efficient utilization for food system and nutrition programming. Ensure gender equality, youth engagement and inclusion of people with disability for Food systems and nutrition Programs

OUR STORIES
Ethiopian Civil Society Coalition for Scaling-Up Nutrition (ECSC-SUN) is part of the Global Initiative for the SUN Movement and the most active networks in Ethiopia for scaling up and improving nutrition. It is the national network established in June 2013 by eleven founding members. Currently the coalition has more than 60 members of national and international civil society organizations that are committed to improve nutrition by supporting country initiative to end malnutrition in all its forms.
Establishment
The Scaling-Up Nutrition (SUN) is a renewed effort and commitment to eliminate malnutrition in all its forms by 2030. SUN was endorsed in April 2010 and since then, the SUN Movement has inspired a new way of working collaboratively to end malnutrition, in all its forms. With the governments of SUN Countries in the lead, it unites people from civil society, the United Nations, donors, businesses, and researchers in a collective effort to improve nutrition.

Ethiopia is among the 65 SUN countries and joined the movement in September 2012. SUN movement in Ethiopia consists of six networks: a SUN Government Network (SUN MSP), a SUN Donors Network, a SUN UN Network, a SUN Business Network, a SUN Academic Network & a SUN CSO Network (ECSC-SUN).

Support for CSOs to develop and implement nutrition-sensitive programs and projects.

Monitoring and tracking progress on nutrition outcomes and holding stakeholders accountable for their commitments.
