ECSC-SUN kicks off pilot project in Somali
Ethiopian Civic Society Coalition for Scaling Up Nutrition (ECSC-SUN) women economic empowerment pilot project kicked off in Somalia region. The launching event held with presence of regional stakeholders like agriculture office, health office and education office representatives and Save the children Somali field office. The project aimed at empowering women through nutrition. Guljano wereda, 80 km away from Jigjiga, capital of the Somali region,is selected to implement the project. About 30 women in reproductive age, mostly pregnant and lactating mothers, are targeted beneficiaries of the project. Based on their preference; petty training, backyard gardening or sheep and goat raring, ECSC-SUN provides seed, goat or plant. These technical and financial support intended to improve their nutritional status.

The event themed ‘Promoting Nutrition Champion in Ethiopia’ held with the presence of development partners and nutrition program implementers, 22 Feb. 2024 at Capital Hotel, Addis Ababa. Speakers from different partners underscored Dr. Lia’s unweaving commitment to strengthen food and nutrition programing, special leadership quality, guidance in formulating and implementing nutrition policy and strategies. To acknowledge her contribution gifts and certificates were presented by MoH and partners.
